The property was designed for connecting with the outdoors. It had four sets of large sliding doors which connect the open plan living space to the outdoor deck overlooking the lake.
Countryside and lakeside living is idyllic… until you want to let in some fresh air. Having spent years fighting off midges in Scotland, the homeowner was desperate to get rid of the bugs that would flood their lake house.
Many lodges on the development had insect screens preinstalled, but they deteriorated quickly and lost their effectiveness. Luckily, Phantom Screens were well-known on the development for being a miracle solution.
Eager for a lasting fix, they reached out without delay, looking for something that would:
- Prevent insects from getting in.
- Allow fresh, cool air to replace the stuffy indoor heat.
- Seamlessly integrate with the home’s design.
- Remain durable against bugs and varying weather conditions for years to come.
The Phantom Screens team responded promptly. With prior experience at the development, we offered expert guidance, provided a bespoke quote, and then carried out a home survey to take exact measurements.
Installation

Four Executive power screens were installed across the sliding doors on the decking. These were handmade in our factory near Peterborough, using only the highest quality materials to ensure the screens’ lasting effectiveness.
To match the door frames, the screens were powder coated in Anthracite Grey (RAL 7016 matt). This made them look as though they’d always been part of the design of the property.
The screens were fitted externally, with all of the headboxes connected together. We also provided additional metal work between the screens, hiding the wood to create a clean, seamless look.

The customer was so impressed with the transformation, that they had the woodwork across the whole exterior painted to match!
