Pleated fly screens have their roots firmly planted in the Japanese traditional culture of ‘compactness’ and were first seen nearly 200 years ago.

There’s nothing compact about their coverage though – these pleated marvels will fit openings up to 9m wide and 3m high in a double configuration.

Stop in the name of the floor
Our pleated fly screens are a little different in that you can stop them anywhere. They also have a very low-profile bottom rail meaning they fit almost flush with your floor, so you don’t have to worry about stepping over guide channels.
But like all our screens, the Distinction concertina fly screen door can be colour-matched to your existing framework or interior design preferences to become part of your whole house scheme.

Gentle giant
The gentlest of touches is all that’s needed to operate the Distinction pleated screen door. As you move the slide bar to deploy the screens, the pleated mesh unfolds and gets to work, preventing insects and blocking up to 55% of the sun’s harmful rays. A series of Kevlar cords tension the screens allowing the mesh to retain its shape, preventing sagging and tearing. The entire construction is designed for maximum durability, elegance and ease of use.

Self-building?
Did you know, manually operated screens are now considered building materials for VAT purposes and can be zero-rated when installed in a qualifying build. Screens must be fitted by us during the construction phase – before the building has been completed.

- All Phantom folding fly screens come with a Phantom Limited two year Warranty to make sure that you are completely satisfied with our products.
- The warranty covers the concertina fly screen door (fitted by Phantom-trained local design and fitting experts, for the original owner). It cannot be transferred to new homeowners and the screens will not be covered if they are moved to a new address.
- The warranty covers the paint finish and mechanical parts of the screen but not the mesh itself. The mesh of your Phantom Screen is a serviceable part and will eventually need to be replaced. This can be organised with your local design and fitting expert.
- Call out, and labour and fitting of warrantied parts is not covered by this warranty.
Sizing
A Distinction pleated fly screen will fit door openings 9.0m wide x 3m high with two screens working together. The maximum width for a single door is 4.5m wide and they can be fitted internally or externally.
Folding fly screens have an ultra-low-profile monorail track (3mm) making this product the ideal solution for wheelchair users or where the transition from indoors to outdoors must remain on a single uninterrupted level. The side housings are also slimline at 60mm wide.
A cord tension system keeps the mesh in its perfect pleated shape and is tensioned by your professional Phantom installer during the fitting process.

Insect management functionality
Folding fly screens are only fitted with pleated and stiffened 18/16 insect mesh in black. This mesh will also block up to 55% of UV rays and so does provide some solar control without obscuring your external views. However, if you would prefer greater solar or privacy control, have a door opening larger than 9m or would prefer automated screens, please talk to us.
