Charming Cheshire Countryside Home

Charming Cheshire Countryside Home

A stone’s throw from rural Nantwich, Cheshire, is a contemporary country home surrounded by stunning views over open fields. This is the story of how a charming countryside property was improved to make the most of rural living with a multitude of bespoke insect screens.

A recent lifestyle change saw our homeowners swapping the buzzing urban life of Manchester for the tranquil Cheshire countryside. The contrast couldn’t be more marked – this modern country home is surrounded by stunning rural landscapes – with cows in neighbouring fields.

Not long after leaving the big city however, they realised that with a new rustic environment comes dreaded insect ingress.

Having spent a number of years living in America, our customers were already well aware of what was needed to manage their home’s bug problem – insect screens. It wasn’t long before they discovered Phantom Screens – a bespoke, high-quality solution that doesn’t compromise on the design of their home – and booked a free home survey.

After our team visited the property to take precise measurements and discuss the best installation and fabric options, it was decided that all screens would have 18:14 black mesh. This is our standard insect protection mesh, which keeps bugs outside, leaves views unaffected, and promotes ventilation.

An Automated Power Screen was installed to a set of bifold doors at the back of the open-plan kitchen/living room. This opening leads out onto a patioed seating area overlooking the garden. By installing a power screen here, our customers can now leave the doors open on hot stuffy days, deploy their screen at the touch of a button, and allow fresh air to ventilate their home – removing stale air to keep the environment feeling fresh, breathable and insect free.

Three Manual Door Screens were installed across the property, two of which are downstairs on doors leading out onto the garden – providing easy access without letting in any mosquitoes, gnats, flies or other uninvited guests. The third standard door screen was installed to a set of double doors in the master bedroom, which open out onto a Juliette balcony. Keeping these doors open during hot evenings can provide a welcome summer breeze without having to chase insects out of the house.

Finally, twelve Window Screens for insect control were added across the entire property – allowing the homeowners to enjoy fresh air circulating throughout the home while leaving the fantastic countryside views unaffected.

As the window frames are all white, the fly screens for windows were finished in RAL 9003 to ensure they seamlessly blend in with the design of the property.

The result? Our customer now enjoys luxury rural living in their modern countryside home. They have been so happy with their screens that they recently invited us back to install even more to a garage conversion!
