A stone’s throw from Broxbourne, this charming property overlooks surrounding fields and woodland. Despite its rural setting, the home has a clean, modern design, and is filled with personality thanks to unique, homely décor.

Sounds idyllic, doesn’t it? However, with the luxury of countryside living, comes the dreaded bugs from nearby woodland, bodies of water, and fields. The homeowners soon became tired of chasing insects and spiders out of the house and began looking for a solution to keep them outside. After some internet research, the homeowners got in touch with our team at Phantom Screens.

Our customers sent us some images and basic measurements of the doors they were looking to screen. This allowed us to get a good understanding of which insect screens could fit with their current configuration. Our experts then visited the property to take accurate measurements and discuss fabric and colour options in greater detail with our customer.

Two areas of the home required fly screens; both were part of a modern extension to the back of the property.

The first area was an open plan kitchen / living room with large sliding doors opening out into the back garden. The second area was a corridor connecting the main building to the kitchen extension at the back with large glass sliding doors either side.

Two Distinction Screens were fitted internally to the sliding doors facing the back garden in the kitchen. Distinction screens have an elegant, pleated design of Japanese origin – learn more about these manual screens here.

Two Automated Power Screens were installed externally to the sliding doors, the subframes fixed to the mullions. Our standard insect protection mesh was chosen for these screens as the priority was to keep the insects out whilst retaining as much natural light as possible.

Our world-famous Power Screens fit openings up to 12m wide and can be controlled via remote, wall switches, smart device, or home automation systems. They’re available in a variety of fabrics, including ones for privacy and solar shading – all providing protection from insects.

Thanks to the Power Screens and manual Distinction Screens, the homeowners can now enjoy luxury countryside living. Ventilating the home with fresh air whilst protecting their property from insects and keeping the home hygienic!
