Solar Screens

The owners of a beautifully crafted home in the rolling English countryside commissioned Phantom Screens to produce two powered solar screens for their new kitchen.

Over-size sliding doors from Austria help make the most of the kitchen’s southerly aspect, considerably increasing light levels in the oak and marble kitchen. However, high light intensity posed a risk of ‘sun-bleaching’ the kitchen’s high-spec units as well as creating unwanted glare.

With new Phantom solar screens in place, solar gain has been reduced by 68% thanks to high performance 20-30 Silver Grey Solar mesh in each of the 4.8m wide screens.

The tailor made solar screens were fitted externally, and colour matched to the external door frames. They now help the homeowners enjoy the best of their kitchen with vastly improved thermal comfort.

Rooms with large glazed areas can be prey to increasing heat in the summer months or on sunny days throughout the year. Phantom’s powered solar screens manage the problem better than blinds because they provide natural ventilation, keeping the air moving without obliterating the view.
