finding The solution
Automated screens for sliding doors
While searching for discreet, high-performance insect screens in London, the homeowners discovered Phantom Screens. Our team arranged a free home survey and worked closely with them to design a fully integrated solution that could accommodate three large sliding doors – with overlapping tracks and projecting handles that would pose challenges for standard screens.
To solve this, we installed three motorised screens (we call them power screens!). Each screen was mounted externally, with custom-built sub frames to allow the screen tracks to clear the protruding door handles. These frames were floated off the building and securely fixed from the soffit down to the floor using a full-width ply backboard and anchored platform – delivering both stability and a visually seamless result.

The motorised fly screens were colour matched in Slate Grey (RAL 7015 satin) to blend perfectly with the existing door frames. Controlled via remote, the screens deploy at the touch of a button and retract completely when not in use – ensuring they complement, rather than compete with, the home’s contemporary architecture.
Each unit was fitted with our standard 18:14 black mesh, designed for optimal ventilation while keeping even the smallest bugs out. The result is cool, natural airflow throughout the home without unwanted intruders.
