From the early stages of the build process, Phantom Screens worked closely with the project’s architect to develop a solar management solution that would meet the homeowners’ needs for years to come.
The homeowners first discovered Phantom Screens at Grand Designs Live in London, where they explored various options for managing sunlight and maintaining comfort in their new home.

Managing Light with Executive Power Screens
The design of the home includes a striking living space at the rear that runs the full height of the house, with large upper windows allowing natural light to flood in. To manage solar gain and enhance comfort, the home was carefully designed with purpose-built overhangs that create natural shade. However, for full control over sunlight and to keep the indoor environment cool and pleasant, Phantom Screens installed ten recessed automated solar screens throughout the property.
Customised Screen Installation for Solar Control
The screen installation includes four large door screens on the ground floor and six screens on the upper-level windows. These screens were specifically chosen to meet the homeowners’ solar control needs, while also preventing insects from entering the home. The 20:30 black solar mesh used in the screens effectively manages heat buildup and glare, keeping the house cool during hot weather while still allowing the homeowners to enjoy clear views of their beautiful garden. Additionally, the screens provide privacy from anyone looking in.
